In the beginning, just before kickoff, my heart was pumping rapidly. Why? Because i was running through my mind these questions.....will Chelsea win, will Chelsea draw, or will Chelsea lose? Well i got the answer after a woeful performance by Chelsea. I think i'm
beginning to lose some confidence in this Chelsea team this season. 3 - 0 was a disgraceful defeat. Wasn't it?
Jose
Mourinho was present to watch the match & i thought this would kind of inspire Chelsea players. But not anyway, they just lacked the wit to attain victory. Man
Utd's keeper had nothing, i mean nothing to do throughout the game. No attack threats even with
Drogba's presence. We just
pocketed possessions.
The 1st half was pretty good with Chelsea at a time enjoying a 76% possession against Man
Utd's 24%. We had possessions but could not produce goals from them.....Wasteful possessions. We got hit by the first blow when Man
Utd's defender,
Vidic, scored with just some seconds to half time. Really our defence has been questionable this season when it comes to set pieces. This is a shadow of what it used to be with former coach
Mourinho.
The second goal could have been avoided if Ashley Cole had sharply cleared the incoming cross from
Evra. From then Chelsea lost motivation to equalise. We lost the fighting spirit completely after the 2
nd goal. Chelsea players then started moving the ball slowly and lazily until another another goal was conceded. The 3rd goal especially was untypical of a Chelsea's defence manning Captain Terry &
Carvalho.
Our set pieces used to be deadly but ironically we are having problems with tackling set pieces against us. Remember the 2 goals we conceded against
Fulham were set pieces. The 1st & 3rd goals by Man
Utd were set pieces. That needs to be worked on. We rather used to be the one that was dangerous with set pieces.
Chelsea dream of reclaiming the Premier League Title is fading off gradually. With Man Utd, Arsenal and Aston Villa being in winning ways recently.
I wonder why John Terry was applauding after the game (after a loss?)
